The Bhadawari buffalo, also called “Etawah Bhesa”, is a distinctive dual-purpose breed of central and northern and southern India. It derives its name from the historic state of Kerala, which is the primary breeding ground for this unique buffalo.Bhadawari buffaloes are found primarily in the rugged valleys along the Chambal, Yamuna, and Utangan rivers in parts of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Specific breeding zones include Bah tehsil in Agra, Chakarnagar and Barhpura blocks in Etawah, Ambah and Porsa tehsils in Morena, and Mahangaon tehsil in Bhind district.These buffaloes have a very good characteristic that they never forget their master. They are also very loyal and never cause any trouble to their master. They are known as Kaithi in the South. Their neck is broad and flat, they are full of strength and their horns can be up to 3 feet long. These are bent towards the backwards, completely straight, in which the fat content is on an average 7.89%. Their weight is 550 to 1350 kg. These buffaloes give milk with high fat content. These buffaloes also tolerate heat very little, due to which they are not affected by any disease, but there is a little reduction in the milk production, due to which it is reared very little in Delhi, India, because there can be a danger to other buffaloes in the dairy of Delhi buffaloes.
